  AGIS and Murdoch University (hereafter MU), in accordance with the principles of equality and mutual benefit and through friendly negotiation, hereby agree to establish a collaborative arrangement for the purposes of providing high quality research training and joint supervision to qualified students from China with the aim of further developing research collaborations between AGIS and MU.

  1. Application/Selection Process

  1.1 Applicants will be selected by AGIS and recommended to MU

  1.2 On recommendation from AGIS applicants will apply to MU.

  1.3 MU will make an assessment of all applications and make a final determination as to the suitability of applicant for entry into the relevant course.

  1.4 MU will notify AGIS of the successful recipients. Applicants given a conditional offer as described in clause 4.3 will be admitted to the degree if those conditions are met and other entry criteria continue to be met, and will not be required to complete an additional selection process.

  2. Entry criteria

  The entry criteria for admission to PhD Degrees will be:

  2.1 The PhD Candidate must be eligible for a student visa pursuant to the Migration Act 1958 (Cth); and

  2.2 MU’s normal academic and non academic entry requirements for the relevant PhD Degree including academic performance and English language requirements (overall IELTS of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0); or

  2.3 The entry criteria specified in clause 4.1 but with at least International English Language Testing System IELTS 6.0 (with no band less than 6.0) or TOEFL iBT 80 (minimum of 20 in any section) on the basis that the corresponding offer is conditional on the PhD Candidate successfully completing an approved English language course (“Pathway Course”) and continuing to meet all other entry criteria.

  3. Funding Arrangements

  3.1 MU will cover tuition fees for up to 4 years;

  3.2 Funding from Student and AGIS will cover below fees/costs:

  -      Living Allowance;

  -      Relocation, Visa, Health Insurance, Thesis Production and Travel costs; and

  -      All other costs associated with the Admitted Student’s completion of a PhD Degree under this Agreement will be borne by the Admitted Student.
