Xinyan Zhang, Principal Investigator. Xinyan’s research is at the interface between plant functional genetics and eukaryotic genomics. His lab’s current areas of focus include the genetic dissection of agronomically important traits in crops and the ecological mechanisms in eukaryotic genome functioning.

  Research Interest

  (1) Crop functional genomics. We aim to dissect the genetic basis of agronomically important traits such as crop yield. The initial work in my lab will use diploid potato as a model system to identify genes that control yield-related traits.

  (2) Genome ecology. We are studying the organization and function of distinct niches in orderly arranged eukaryotic genomes with particular focus on characterizing precision-targeting genetic factors at those niches.
