  Personnel Structure

The center consists of two innovation teams of CAAS and three research groups Among the 63 team members, one have received the Excellent Young Scientist Fund from NSFC, two the National Leading Personnel in Shenzhen, one the Elite Young Scientists of CAAS, four selected the Elite Young Scientists of CAAS, four the High-level Talents in Shenzhen and six the Overseas High-level Talents in Shenzhen. The team includes three doctoral supervisors, nine research scientists, six associate research scientists, and twenty-two post-doctorals.

  Objectives

The Synthesis Biology Center is built on the basis of the big biology data and the big scientific team to solve the cutting-edge problems in agricultural synthetic biology. We focus on synthetic breeding and plant secondary metabolite research. We are performing gene network data mining and metabolic pathways analysis. We are promoting genome-wide design breeding and omics-driven plant artificial design to build a modern agricultural breeding research platform.

  Research Areas

Novel breeding technology driven by whole-genome design and artificial chromosomes.  Big data-driven plant metabolite study driven by omics data and guided by the concept of "system biology + engineering".
