        Introduction

  Guoqiang Yi, Principle Investigator, Doctoral Advisor[z2] . He has received the Overseas High-level Talents in Shenzhen in 2019. Guoqiang obtained his Bachelor and Ph.D. from China Agricultural University in 2010 and 2015, where he studied animal genetics and breeding. In 2015, he joined the Department of Molecular biology at Radboud University, to start his postdoc training. His group focuses on mining genetic loci and epigenetic regulatory elements behind important phenotypes in livestock. In the past five years, he has published more than 20 papers in Cell Reports, Blood Cancer Journal, Epigenetics & Chromatin, BMC Genomics and other journals.

  Research Interests

  The major focus of our group is to decipher the molecular mechanisms behind complex traits and disease in pig by integrating multi-omics approaches, which could lay a foundation for breed improvement both in theory and technique. 1) Detect potential genetic loci and regulatory elements under pork production and disease, and reveal the relationships between genetic variations and complex traits; 2) Elucidate the evolutionary history of genetic and phenotypic diversity in pig domestication by population genetics approaches; 3) Study the molecular mechanisms of developmental trajectory for porcine skeletal muscle and other key organs.

  Major Achievements

  1) Establishing high-resolution maps of genetic variations and pan-genome in pig, to decipher the evolutionary history of pig genetic and phenotypic diversity;

  2) Assembling the reference genome of Debao pony, and revealing the dwarfish mechanisms by population genetics analysis;

  3) Elucidating potential pathogenesis and targets of mycoplasmal pneumonia of swine using scRNA-seq and ChIP-seq;

  4) Genome-wide identification of genetic loci associated with pork production and reproduction traits.
