  Introduction

Jianlong Xu, Professor, PhD Supervisor. the second-level outstanding talents of the genetics and breeding post of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS). The main research was the favorable gene mining, cloning and whole genome breeding for high yield, biotic and abiotic stress tolerance to rice. Published 221 articles at domestic and overseas journals and 60 were indexed by SCI; authorized 13 Chinese patents, 13 rice varieties and 2 male sterile lines. Acquired several prizes in Science and Technology Progresses, including one first prize of Heilongjiang province, one first prize of Jilin province and three third prizes of Zhejiang province.

  Research Interest

In combination with high throughput SNP genotypes, trait-specific introgression lines (ILs) of drought tolerance, salt tolerance, disease resistance, low nitrogen tolerance and nitrogen use efficiency and re-sequencing germplasms were used to map and mine the favorable genes of green traits, create molecular designing and pyramiding breeding technical system of multiple complex traits based on phenotype of the ILs and genotype of the target trait. Heterosis and the whole genome selection of prediction model were established by Xian restorer lines and backbone sterile lines. Research the evolution of rice germplasms, exploring predicting and screening methods and techniques for future key parents and main varieties, and develop green super rice through the whole genome selection combined with conventional breeding techniques.

  Major Achievements

  1) A series of new hybrid rice varieties were developed using the photo-thermo sensitive male nuclear sterile line Chun 6S with our intellectual property right, including Chunliangyou 534, Chunliangyouhuazhan, Chunliangyou 121 and Chunliangyouyuehesimiao. All related experiments have been finished for Chunliangyou 534, Chunliangyouhuazhan in 2018 and will be officially approved by the State in 2019.

  2) A technology transfer of Chun 6S was realized for 6 million Chinese yuan, and collaborative breeding will proceed with a seed company to breed new hybrid rice based on Chun 6S and another research financial support of 4 million Chinese yuan, thus amounting total of 10 million for R & D activities.
