Guirong Wang, Han ethnicity, born in December 1972 in Suzhou, Anhui Province, is currently the Director-General of the Institute of Agricultural Genomics at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (AGIS-CAAS), the member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), second-class researcher (equivalent to the full professor), doctoral supervisor.

Main research areas and achievements

He has long been engaged in research on chemical ecology and functional genomics of pests, and has proposed a new idea of high-throughput screening of insect behavioral modulators using olfactory receptors as targets, and has developed new technologies for green prevention and control of important agricultural pests. He has presided over the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Distinguished Youth Fund, National Foundation of China (NFC) Key Projects, National Foundation of China (NFC) Key International Cooperation Projects, and National Key Research and Development Programs. He has published more than 150 research papers, including more than 80 SCI papers as the first or corresponding author in PNAS, Current Biology, Mole.Biol.Evol. and eLife, etc. He has been authorized 8 national invention patents, and has edited 3 books. He has been awarded the honors of High-level Leading Talents by the Ministry of Organization of the CPC Central Committee, Young and Middle-aged Leading Talents in Science and Technology Innovation by the Ministry of Science and Technology, National Ten Million Talents Project, Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions to China, State Council Special Government Allowance, and National Leading Talents of Shenzhen.
