He has long been engaged in research on chemical ecology and functional genomics of pests, and has proposed a new idea of high-throughput screening of insect behavioral modulators using olfactory receptors as targets, and has developed new technologies for green prevention and control of important agricultural pests. He has presided over the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Distinguished Youth Fund, National Foundation of China (NFC) Key Projects, National Foundation of China (NFC) Key International Cooperation Projects, and National Key Research and Development Programs. He has published more than 150 research papers, including more than 80 SCI papers as the first or corresponding author in PNAS, Current Biology, Mole.Biol.Evol. and eLife, etc. He has been authorized 8 national invention patents, and has edited 3 books.
