Guirong Wang

Guirong Wang is a research professor, doctoral advisor, and the DirectorGeneral of the Agricultural Genomics Institute at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (AGIS-CAAS). He currently holds several distinguished positions, including Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Plant Pest and Disease Biology, President of the Asia-Pacific International Society of Chemical Ecology, Deputy Director of the Genomics Committee of the Entomological Society of China, and Deputy Director of the Chemical Ecology Committee of the Entomological Society of China.

His research focuses on insect chemical ecology and functional genomics, where he has made notable advances in understanding the mechanism of olfactory coding in cotton pests. He has authored over 100 research papers in esteemed journals such as the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), Current Biology, and Biological Reviews. Wang has been awarded six national invention patents and has received the second prize of the National Technical Progress Award (9). He is a laureate of the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, recognized as an expert with special government allowance by the State Council, and distinguished as a young and middle-aged expert with significant national contributions. He has been identified as a leading talent by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee and is a participant in the National Project of One Hundred Million Talents by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Affairs, as well as the Program for Promoting Innovative Talents by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
