Yongxin Liu Lab

The laboratory is centered around the development of metagenomic methods, with a strong emphasis on third-generation sequencing and emerging techniques like single-cell microbiology. The primary goal is to dissect the interactions among the human genome, microbiota, and nutritional aspects, leveraging functional foods and gut microbiota to enhance human health. Additionally, efforts are directed towards establishing a distinctive Chinese scientific food and nutrition communication framework.

    Yahui Li graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics. Joined the research team as an assistant researcher in September 2023, mainly engaged in metagenomic bioinformatics analysis and visualization method development, microbiome database construction, and scientific communications

    Researcher Qu Hongxia’s main research direction: During her doctoral studies, her research direction was the impact of epigenetic modifications on fruit ripening and development and the regulation of postharvest fruit quality, combining genomics, bioinformatics and other related methods, with a focus on functional genes and metabolic pathways.

    Salsabeel Yousuf has been involved in research of animal genetics breeding and reproduction specializing on structural, functional & evolutionary genomics, transcriptomics studies, and high throughput protein modeling, docking, and MD simulation along with large-scale data handling using Linux and Windows advanced bioinformatics approaches. Her research interests are further driven toward studying crosstalk of non-coding RNAs and mRNAs as ceRNA networks, applying targeted and non-targeted metabolomic approaches, and integrating multi-omics layers to understand the complete mechanism of genetic control for important target traits and how that can be manipulated to achieve ultimate desired results including prediction of key responsive genetic material & validation by advance multiple functional genetic approaches.


    In 2022, she graduated from the University of Gottingen, Germany with a doctorate in Agronomy. At present, he is mainly engaged in metagenomic research of plant microorganisms.

    Since 2014, he has been engaged in bioinformatics research, including genome and transcriptome-related work such asomics-based metabolic pathway mining, resource utilization, and functional regulation research. During his PhD training, he  was engaged in microbial research based on Nanopore sequencing, evaluated sequencing technology and application .
