Associate researcher
    • Weilong Kong: Kong Weilong, Ph.D., Associate Researcher in the Zhang Xingtan Group, Scientist in the " Pengcheng Peacock Project ". He graduated with a Ph.D. in Genetics from the National Key Laboratory of Hybrid Rice, Wuhan University, in 2020 and conducted postdoctoral research for genomics and complex quantitative trait genetics of tea plant at Agricultural Genomics Institute at Shenzhen, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences from 2021 to 2022. During the past five years, he published over 20 SCI papers as the first author, corresponding author, or co-first author, including 9 papers in top journals such as Nature Plants, The Plant Journal, Horticulture Research, and Genomics Proteomics & Bioinformatics. He integrated and developed various whole-genome association analysis methods, coupled with genomic and epigenomic sequencing, elucidated the epigenetic regulatory mechanisms underlying the synthesis of key flavor compounds (such as catechins, theanine, and volatile terpenoids) in tea plant before and after harvesting, and identified multiple flavor-related key genes regulated by the epigenome (Hortic Res 2023a, Plant J 2023). He also constructed the first comprehensive transcriptome and secondary metabolite regulatory network of tea plant (Hortic Res 2022), the first 3D chromatin map of tea plant (Hortic Res 2023b), and the pan-genome of tea plant, and identified two major genes related to early bud development in tea plant (Nature Plants 2023).

    • Xiaofei Zeng: Xiaofei Zeng, Ph.D., is an associate researcher in Xingtan Zhang's group at the Omics Technology Research Center. He received his undergraduate degree from Central South University for Nationalities  in 2011, and his Ph.D. degree in genetics from Wuhan University in 2016. He carried out scientific research as a post-doctoral fellow and senior research scholar at the University of Science and Technology of Southern China (USTC) from 2019 to 2023. He has been engaged in genomic, epigenetic and gene expression regulation research for a long time. He has published 13 SCI papers in Nature, Biotechnology for Biofuels, Industrial Crops Products, Plant Cell Reports, etc., with total citations of 446 in Google Scholar and H-index of 9. He is the chairperson of one project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (in progress), and has received a top-level grant from China Postdoctoral Foundation (completed).

Postdoc
    • Zhenyang Liao: Zhenyang Liao, a postdoctoral researcher at the Agricultural Genomics Institute at Shenzhen Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. PhD candidate, Genetics, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Fuzhou, China. His research focuses on genome assembly of polyploid organisms, comparative genomics, plant sex determination, and evolutionary studies. He has published 33 research papers in esteemed journals, including Cell, Nature Genetics, Nature Communications, and Horticulture Research.

    • Min Chen: Dr. Chen Min is a postdoctoral researcher in the Zhang Xingtan Group. She obtained her Ph.D. in Facility Horticulture from Shandong Agricultural University in 2018.  Following this, she served as an Assistant Researcher at the Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, from February 2019 to March 2023. Since April 2023, she has been conducting postdoctoral research on the genomics and pan-genome of the coconut at the Agricultural Genomics Institute in Shenzhen, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

    • Noor Ul Ain: As a postdoctoral researcher, her passion lies in harnessing genomics to enhance crop productivity and sustainability. Her academic journey, rooted in plant physiology, includes a focus on salinity-tolerant wheat transformation during her master's in Pakistan. For her Ph.D. at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, she delved into unraveling the genetic basis of biomass traits in octoploid sugarcane. Currently, her work extends this foundation, concentrating on auto-tetraploid genomes, particularly in alfalfa and sugarcane, and constructing a pan-genome for robust population genomics analysis. Her interest extends to employing population analysis for identifying DNA markers linked to yield-related traits in sugarcane. Through this integrative approach, I aspire to pioneer novel strategies in crop improvement, addressing global challenges like climate change and food security.

    • Xiaofeng Li: Xiaofeng Li is apost doctoral researcher at the Agricultural Genomics Institute at Shenzhen Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He obtained Ph.D. in Crop Genetics and Breeding from Sichuan Agricultural University. His  Ph.D.  research focused on the genetic diversity analysis of maize distant hybridization introgression lines and the mechanism of salt tolerance in strong salt introgression lines.

    • Zhongqiang Xia: Dr. Zhongqiang Xia,  is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher in the research team led by Professor Zhang Xingtan at the Center for Omics Technology, specializing in plant genomics research. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Henan Agricultural University in 2016 and obtained his Ph.D. in Genetics from Southwest University in 2023. His research focuses on leveraging bioinformatics analysis of large-scale biological data to identify key candidate genes associated with important agronomic traits. During the past five years, his relevant achievements have been published as first or corresponding author(including co-authorship) in journals such as Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics.
