Yongfu Tao
Yongfu Tao , Professor, obtained his Ph.D. degree in Crop Genetics and Breeding from China Agricultural University in 2014. From August 2014 to January 2023, he served as a postdoctoral fellow and researcher at the University of Queensland in Australia. Since February 2014, he has been working as a researcher at the Institute of Agricultural Genomics, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
Yongfu Tao has been dedicated to exploring the genetic and molecular regulatory mechanisms of crop excellent gene mining and important agronomic traits. He has achieved a series of innovative research results, including comprehensive exploration of the genetic variation of sorghum by constructing a pan-genome, laying the foundation for genetic improvement of sorghum. He elucidated the genetic regulatory mechanism of sorghum grain size, guiding sorghum breeding based on this research.
As the first author, Yongfu Tao has published 11 papers in journals such as Nature Plants, Molecular Plant, Plant Biotechnology Journal, and Plant Journal. One of the papers was selected as a highly cited paper in the Web of Science. His research achievements have been reported by news media, including the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC news) and Xinhua News Agency's Sydney branch, and are considered to guide the direction of sorghum genetic improvement
