Yong Xiang
Yong Xiang, Professor, PhD Supervisor, Deputy Director of Center for Plant Genomics Research, Chief Scientist of Green Super Rice Molecular Design and Whole Genome Breeding Innovation Team of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences(CAAS). He received his PhD degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Huazhong Agricultural University in 2008 and then did his postdoctoral research at Max-Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research, Germany. He is mainly engaged in the cloning of genes for seed dormancy, germination and storage life of rice and Arabidopsis, and molecular design and whole genome breeding of “green super rice”. The research results provide technical support for the cultivation and industrialization of new varieties with high quality, high yield, stress resistance, suitable for light and simplified cultivation. Presided over or participated in a number of national key research and development projects, National Natural Science Foundation projects, and key areas research and development plans of scientific research institutions in Guangdong Province. Published more than 10 papers in influential journals such as Molecular Plant, Plant Cell, Plant Physiology, Nucleic Acids Research with one author and corresponding author, authorized 3 invention patents. Won the first prize of Natural Science Award of Hubei Province, “Young Talents of CAAS ”, Pearl River Talents of Guangdong Province (Young Top) and "Shenzhen Overseas Senior Talents"
