Evolutionary Genetics of Oryza:

1. identifying adaptive variants from the temporal-spatial variation of Oryza.

We are combining pangenomics, ancient DNA, population genetic and molecular genetic techniques to search for and verify adaptive genetic variants in the large gene pool of Oryza system, ultimately help with breeding climate resilient rice.

2. genetics and evolution of hybrid incompatibilities.

Hybrid incompatibility provides a key perspective to understand Darwin's "mystery of mysteries", i.e. speciation, and it is one of the most important bottlenecks in crop breeding. We are interested in the genomic architecture of hybrid incompatibilities in rice, the origin and evolution of genetic incompatilities in the population.
