1. Evolutionary biology: taking plant organelles as the research object, we utilize omics data to explore the variation and mutation mechanism of organelle genomes, as well as the molecular mechanism of nucleoplasmic interactions. We also explored the transformation of photosynthesis and respiration system based on organelle gene editing to improve crop yield.

2. Horticultural species genomics: In order to provide theoretical basis for molecular breeding of Lingnan flower species, the whole genome, functional traits and molecular breeding of Lingnan flower species such as Liliaceae, Zingiberaceae, Caryophyllales, Rosaceae and so on were carried out.
