Research Area
Dr. Sanwen Huang integrates genomics, population genetics, and molecular biology to understand the biology of plant genomes and applies genomics in crop breeding. He has contributed significantly to the foundation for genome research in the botanical families Solanaceae and Cucurbitaceae, turbocharging genome-guided breeding of crops in these families. He pioneered transforming potato from a clonally propagated tetraploid crop into a seed diploid crop through genome design.
