 Junbiao Dai is the Director of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Synthetic Genomics and Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Synthetic Genomics. He received his Bachelor degree from Nanjing University in 1997, Master of Science in Biology from Tsinghua University in 2000 and PhD in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from Iowa State University in 2006. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine before joining the faculty in School of Life Sciences at Tsinghua University in 2011. In 2017-2022, he is a professor at SIAT. In the past five years, he has published, as corresponding author, more than 60 papers in prestigious journals including Science and was selected as one of the Top Ten Scientific Advances of China in 2017. He is currently participating in several major scientific projects from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Natural Science Fundation of China (NSFC) and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He is also one of the ten leading scientists in the steering committee of the National “Synthetic Biology” Key Research and Development Program. He is one of the key members in synthetic yeast consortium (Sc2.0) and genome project-write (GP-write), and is currently leading the “GP-Write China”. In 2017, He was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.
