The Taxus genome provides insights into paclitaxel biosynthesis

May 26, 2025

The research successfully decoded the high-quality genome of the rare anti-cancer plant, Taxus, and revealed the genetic basis of paclitaxel biosynthesis. This study is a major breakthrough in the field of plant research and is of great significance in guiding the genetic breeding and efficient utilization of germplasm resources in Taxus; it can provide biological data guarantee for the synthetic biology biomanufacturing of paclitaxel in China, accelerate the design and development of heterologous synthetic plots of paclitaxel, and provide a critical foundation for the next step of developing a green and sustainable production strategy for paclitaxel biosynthesis.
