AGIS strives to broaden international cooperation, takes the lead and participates in international scientific projects, increases research and exchange funds, enhances scientific and technological innovation capabilities,and enhances international influence.

AGIS has established an international joint laboratory in collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute, the company Syngenta, and Sheikh Mujib Rahman Agricultural University in Bangladesh; Collaborate with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in the United States, the Lausanne Test Station in the United Kingdom, and the University of Giessen in Germany to carry out international cooperation projects. AGIS has signed cooperation agreements with multiple international institutions, including the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) in Australia, the Murdoch University , the University of Charleston in Australia, the John Innes Center in the UK, the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomics, and the company Fenmeier, to jointly support scientists in conducting collaborative research and jointly cultivating high-level talents.

Collaborating with scientists from 62 research institutions in 24 countries and regions, AGIS has launched and led international joint scientific and technological research projects , such as the "Excellent Potato Project", "Good Pig Project", "Grain Genome Project", "TOP1000 Insect Genome Project", and "1000 Invasive Organism Genome Project", to take advantages of agricultural genomics research and focus on solving technical problems in the development of agricultural genomics. The implementation of the Agricultural Genomics Program will undoubtedly promote the application of omics technology in agricultural production and enhance the international competitiveness of China's agricultural science and technology.
