Biotic and/or abiotic stresses threaten plant growth as well as crop yield. At present, our research is mainly carried out in the vegetable crop plants cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) and the model plant Arabidopsis. The research direction chiefly covers:

1. Deciphering how plants respond to environmental stimuli (mechanical wounding, salt stress and nutrients depletion, etc) and in a systemic manner. We hope to understand how plants take advantage of long distance signals to defend themselves at whole-body level, aiming at designing stress resilient crop plants.

2. Building up and modeling plant electrome upon various environmental stimuli. Plant electrome measures the entire dimension of plant electrical responses prior to any visible symptoms triggered by stimuli. We are devoted to collect and decode plant electrome toward smart and sustainable farming.
